Judging Criteria 

 

We understand the importance of the judging process and the integrity of our awards. The Social Media Marketing Awards’ judges are the best of the best, with experience working within the social media marketing industry and an understanding of its challenges and successes. Each judge is selected to take ownership of their own specialist area to allow them to put their expertise to the best use.

The judging process for the Social Media Marketing Awards (SMMA) is meticulously designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and recognition of excellence within the social media marketing industry. We assemble a diverse panel of leading experts, each with extensive experience and a deep understanding of social media's evolving landscape. Our judges are committed to identifying and celebrating the individuals and teams who are setting new standards of creativity, strategy, and impact in social media marketing.

The Process:

Nominations:

Open for individual and team categories, our nomination process is designed to uncover the best talent and achievements in the social media marketing field. Upon receiving a nomination, we contact the nominee (assuming contact details are provided) to invite them to submit a comprehensive entry. This submission offers the judges a detailed view of the nominee’s work and impact over the past year. We strongly encourage self-nomination as well, as it's a chance for professionals to highlight their own accomplishments. Remember, a direct entry is possible from the 30th of March, without the need for a prior nomination.

Important Dates:

  • Nominations Open: 4th March 2024

  • Full Award Entry Opens: 30th March 2024

  • Entries Close: 15th May 2024

  • Shortlist Announced: 30th May 2024

  • Judging Period (May-August)

  • Awards Ceremony: September 2024 (exact date to be confirmed)

Entries:

For category-specific submissions, participants will enter online, adhering to the set criteria for each category. These criteria are used to refine all entries to a shortlist. This shortlist is then reviewed by our panel of judges, who will make the final decisions to be announced at the awards ceremony.

Shortlist:

The announcement of the shortlist, as well as special recognitions within the industry, will be made in May 2024.

By submitting a full entry, participants agree to the awards' terms and conditions.

Judging Criteria and Scoring System:

We employ a specific set of criteria and a scoring system for each category to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of all entries.

Universal Criteria (Applicable to All Categories):

  • Innovation and Creativity: Assessing how entrants have used original ideas or innovative approaches in their social media strategies.

  • Impact and Effectiveness: Evaluating the tangible outcomes, benefits, and reach of their social media efforts. This includes engagement rates, growth metrics, and overall campaign success.

  • Strategic Thinking and Execution: The ability to plan and implement social media strategies that align with broader marketing goals or brand values.

  • Content Quality and Relevance: The consistency, creativity, and relevance of content produced, and its alignment with audience preferences and behaviors.

  • Community Engagement and Management: How effectively the entrant has built, managed, and engaged with their community across social media platforms.

  • Ethical Considerations and Social Responsibility: The extent to which the entrant's social media activities demonstrate a commitment to ethical practices, inclusivity, and contributing positively to the digital community.

There will be specific criteria listed on the entry forms to aid your application.
